About Us
The Harlan County High School Choir is dedicated to the universal language of music that has the power to bring joy, peace, and healing to its listeners. Made up of several students from HCHS, this unique music organization transcends cultural and generational boundaries and brings together people from around the world through stirring music. The High School Chorale is a large ensemble open to students in grades 9-12 interested in choral singing. Students will study a varied repertoire of choral literature representing different historical periods, styles, and cultures. This course is a study of advanced choral singing, performance techniques, and music literacy. This ensemble will perform in several school concerts, festivals, and clinics.
Students of the Harlan County High School Choir are not just joining a choir; they are joining a culture of excellence of our heritage. Each student who walks into the choir room – whether by choice or not – bears the responsibility of defining our culture. With that responsibility comes an expectation on the way members represent the Choir Program with their actions.
