Membership Requirements
Selection for the National Honor Society is based on the following criteria:

GPA of 3.5 or better

No truancy or excessive tardiness
​

No suspensions or alternative education visits
​

Three letters of recommendation from teachers or administration
​
-
Screening by a membership committee made up of 4 teachers
Second Year Members
A formal induction ceremony is held during the fall of each school year to induct the new members of the National Honor Society. Featured at the induction is speakers and musical performances by the Harlan County High School Jazz Band. The ceremony is preceded by the club officers. Those positions are president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.
